Najwa Nimri Urrutikoetxea was born February 14, 1972 in Pamplona, Spain. She is a Spanish actress and singer.
Nimri's mother is Basque and her father is Jordanian; his name is Karam Nimri. She has a brother named Karim Nimri, a half-brother named Andre Nimri and two half-sisters named Sara and Nadia Nimri. Najwa also has a cousin who is a singer named (Antix) Alexander Nimier. Her name means ecstasy in Arabic. When she was a child she moved to Bilbao and now lives in Madrid.
She is a composer and singer in the pop group Najwajean, a duo composed by Najwa Nimri and Carlos Jean. 'No Blood' was their first CD. Her career as a singer started with small groups.
Before she discovered acting, she was the singer with the bands Respect and Clan Club.
She went solo in 2001 with the album "Carefully". The second one, "Mayday", was released in the summer of 2003 - She has released three solo albums.
Her first important film role was in Salto al Vacío, the first movie by film director Daniel Calparsoro.
Two of her film roles won her praise: as Ana in Lovers of the Arctic Circle, and as Elena in Sex and Lucia (Spanish title Lucía y el Sexo). Both films were directed by Julio Medem.
